Our History

The Fit Company has been a part of Norfolk's Ghent for 22 years. It started in the basement of a fraternity house in Ghent in 1982. The Fit company was involved in the aerobics industry providing classes for private corporations and conventions as well as an aerobics instructor training school.

The Fit Company was established in 1988. Its owner, Roger Arrington, spent a considerable amount of time consulting with the Downtown Athletic Club, Body Works exercise studio, and the Ghent Athletic Center.

The Fit company moved to its first gym location in the Chelsea area of West Ghent in 1998. Based on the success of the gym at this site, the company designed and built a new facility around the corner.

The Fit Company is one of the first gyms in Tidewater built from the ground up.

The "new" Fit Company gym opened its doors in June,2002.
Mission Statement

Our mission is to build a gym, free of gimmicks, not a bottom line.

We strive to educate our members/clients and community about what is fact and what is fiction.

We will keep our members up to date with reliable information through current research and respected journals.

We have a medically respected program.

We inspire our members to work out and ultimately adopt a healthier lifestyle.
